The Genesis Women's Shelter and Support - Student Teaching Internship is available to students majoring or minoring in education as part of a teacher certification program. To be considered for this internship, you should demonstrate experience with and sensitivity to varying values, attitudes, and backgrounds. Additionally, you should be accepting of agency philosophies regarding domestic violence, internal conflict resolution, and how decisions are made. As an intern, you will work as a member of the teaching team to deliver lessons to children participating in the Summer Enrichment program. You will provide classroom management on campus and during off-site activities, develop a learning unit based on state curriculum standards and the school’s curriculum planning guide, and learn about the effect domestic violence has on children, especially as it relates to their learning and behavior in the classroom.
