The Cleveland Museum of Art Pre-Program Frame Restoration Internship is available to undergraduate students with a demonstrated interest in art history, and skills in studio art making such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and familiarity with hand tools. As an intern, you will develop basic gilding skills and prepare sample boards showing all the layers in the process. Learn to prepare a wood surface for gesso, bole, gold leaf, burnish, and toning. You will also learn remedial treatment of gilded frames. This includes consolidation, surface cleaning, repairs, gilding and inpainting. This internship is offered in Cleveland, OH, and runs for 10 weeks during the summer.
