The Legal Internship is open to students in the San Francisco Bay area who are interested in serving youth who have suffered violence, abuse or neglect and who are at risk of entering the foster care or juvenile justice systems. Internship duties include: conducting intake interviews with callers to the agency's "warm line"; assisting staff attorneys with all aspects of client representation, including legal research and writing, drafting of declarations and other pleadings, and attendance at court hearings; and assisting staff with outreach to underserved youth populations such as queer youth, immigrant youth, young women and youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Term-time interns are required to commit to a weekly minimum of 16 hours; summer interns are required to work full time for a minimum of 10 weeks. To be eligible for this internship, you must submit a resume, cover letter and writing sample.
