Can you get a scholarship for being left-handed?
You never know what type of unique scholarship opportunities are out there—unless you use Fastweb, of course. You’ve probably heard a great aunt or family member tell you, “There are all sorts of weird scholarships out there. You can get a scholarship because of your left-handedness!” You appreciate their eagerness to help you find money to pay for school, but you question where they’ve heard about these special scholarships. Can you get a scholarship for being left-handed? Learning to participate in extracurricular activities as a leftie or even cutting with right-handed scissors has added to your flexibility as a student—shouldn't you have access to scholarships because of this?! Scholarship providers get to choose the criteria for how they’ll award their funds. Some providers like to make their scholarship qualifications especially unique. While there are currently not any active scholarships for left-handed students, there are a few scholarships or scholarship foundations linked to famous left-handed people!

Deadline: Varies Award Amount: $21,500 The Mark Twain Scholarship is available to entering students at University of Missouri. You must be a resident of another state other than Missouri, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and have a minimum 23 ACT / 1130 SAT score to be considered for this award.

Deadline: Varies The Apple Internship is available to undergraduate and graduate students who are studying computer science, engineering, business, finance, economics, marketing, communications, operations and supply chain, human resources, design, music, film, legal, health and wellness, environmental policy, and related disciplines. Internships are offered in Santa Clara Valley, CA, and run for 12 weeks.

Preference is given to students majoring in computer science, business, engineering, and computer information systems. After completing a nine - week online training program, students will be the first point of contact for Apple customers, providing customer service, troubleshooting, and technical support.

Deadline: Varies Award Amount: $2,500 The Electrical Engineering Tesla Scholars Program is open to MS applicants within the Electrical Engineering Department. You must demonstrate a distinctly superior undergraduate academic record to be considered for this award. Scholars are invited to participate in special academic and cultural events organized in their honor.

Marie Curie

Marie Curie Scholarship

Deadline: 1/23/24 Award Amount: $20,000 The Marie Curie Scholarship is available to female students at the College of Saint Mary. You must be pursuing a BS in biology, chemistry, mathematics, or human biology to be eligible for this award. You must also have a minimum GPA of 3.5, an ACT score of at least 23, and / or a strong demonstration of STEM preparedness through coursework, STEM extracurricular activities, and/or job experience in science and math to be eligible for this award. Preference is given to students who wish to pursue non medicine STEM careers, those who demonstrate high financial aid, need and individuals from underrepresented groups (including first-generation, minority groups, single parents).

Leonardo da Vinci Fellowship Research Grant

Deadline: Varies Award Amount: Varies The Leonardo da Vinci Fellowship Research Grant is open to students enrolled at the Center for Intellectual Property x Innovation Policy. You must submit a proposal on any IP or IP-related field, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, or rights of publicity, among others. Research proposals can address any topic or issue within these fields, providing economic, philosophical, historical, scientific, or doctrinal analysis, among others. You must also submit a précis of no fewer than 700 words that identifies the subject matter of the research, the thesis asserted or hypothesis to be tested, the motivation for the project that identifies how this project fills a current gap in the literature or otherwise addresses a compelling research question, the methodology to be employed, a brief summary of the supporting analysis, a proposed budget and a list of prior publications if applicable.

Deadline: 9/15/23 Award Amount: $1,000 The Notorious RBG Women of Tomorrow Scholarship is open to rising high school students graduating through 2027. You must submit a response of between 500 and 800 words that answers the following question to be considered for this award: Ruth Bader Ginsberg stated, "As women achieve power, the barriers will fall. As society sees what women can do, as women see what women can do, there will be more women out there doing things, and we’ll all be better off for it... As we connect and collaborate, give and take, we are evolving, emerging stronger and more capable." How are you embodying the spirit of RBG to be notorious for your power in your community? Female-identified applicants are strongly encouraged to apply; however, applicants of any gender are eligible.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: 3/1/24 Award Amount: Varies The Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial Scholarship is available to female, or female-identifying, first- or third-year law students. You must have graduated high school in one of the seven counties in the Coastal Bend Community Foundation service area (Aransas County, Bee County, Jim Wells County, Kleberg County, Nueces County, Refugio County, and San Patricio County) to be considered for this award.

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey Diamond in the Rough Scholarship

Deadline: Varies Award Amount: Varies The Oprah Winfrey Diamond in the Rough Scholarship is open to male sophomores, juniors and seniors at Morehouse College. You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate significant community service experience and good conduct during your matriculation at Morehouse College to be considered for this award.

Deadline: 10/31/23 Award Amount: $15,000 The UCF Astronaut Scholarship is available to full-time junior and senior-level undergraduate students at the University of Central Florida who are majoring in Natural or Applied Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics. You must have conducted a considerable amount of research in your field and be nominated by a faculty member to be eligible for this award.

Deadline: 2/6/23 Award Amount: $30,000 The Truman Scholars Program is open to full - time students in their penultimate year of school who are interested in pursuing any graduate degree, other than the MBA, in a field that is likely to lead to a career in public service.
