Juneteenth Illinois
The Juneteenth Illinois Scholarship and Mentorship Program is available to graduating high school senior students who are residents of Chicago, belong to an underrepresented population, and will enroll as a full-time student at an accredited four-year university or college. Selection is based on a 250-maximum essay addressing the following topic: "Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It's a day to celebrate freedom, reflect on the ongoing struggle for racial equality, and recommit to building a more just future. Describe how the Juneteenth holiday's significance inspires your academic and personal goals. How will your education contribute to creating a more equitable society?". Recipients will receive a financial scholarship award and year-long mentorship to achieve their academic goals while exposing them to successful professionals for guidance and support.
