Laguna College of Art and Design, called LCAD, is a private college located in Laguna Beach, California. LCAD has a small student body with a current enrollment of 450 students. The college offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts with majors in Painting and Drawing, Illustration, Animation, Graphic Design, and Game Art. A minor is available in Sculpture.
In 2006, the college added a graduate program leading to a Master of Fine Arts in Painting with an emphasis on representational and figurative art, the only one of its kind in the western U.S. Satellite MFA facilities.[citation needed] In 2010, accreditation was approved for a graduate major in Drawing. A post-baccalaureatte certificate is also awarded.
Also in 2006, a formal partnership was created with the Florence Academy of Art so that students may take summer classes in Florence and obtain credit toward their degree at LCAD. Similar arrangements for Painting and Drawing majors exist with the Art Students League, and for Game Art majors with the Academy for Digital Entertainment at NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences. In Graphic Design a formal alliance was created in 2011 with the Communication University of China, Beijing.
