Panola College is a community college located in Carthage, Texas. The name derives from Panola County, Texas, of which Carthage is the county seat.
Panola College is a comprehensive public community college serving the citizens of Harrison, Marion, Panola, and Shelby counties and has a rich tradition of helping students achieve their academic and personal goals.
Panola College offers courses through its main campus in Carthage and at centers in Marshall and Center, Texas. Over the past 65 years the institution has earned a reputation for having outstanding academic transfer, petroleum technology, nursing, and health science programs. Panola College is also a leader in offering distance learning courses via the Internet, and since 2003 has been listed by the Center for Digital Education as one of the top 10 tech-savvy community colleges in the nation. Students can choose from a variety of technical programs that provide quick employment and career enhancement opportunities, or they can pursue a two-year associate degree and academic courses for transfer to a four-year university.
Panola College faculty members are constantly striving to offer students the courses they need in a format that is most convenient for them. A good example of this philosophy is the Online Flex Delivery Registered Nursing Program. It is designed to give students an opportunity to earn an associate degree in nursing through a non-traditional, flexible format with online classes and flexible clinical experiences. This innovative delivery system allows students to continue working while pursuing a degree in nursing. A program of this kind would not be possible without high caliber people who are constantly pushing the envelope.
