Mathematics and Statistics

Math and statistics go hand-in-hand. A math major can move on to become a number of professions, from teaching to market research to a financial analyst, anything that deals heavily with numbers is a good fit for a math major.

Math majors cover a wide variety of problem and equation solving in several areas of study. Geometry studies shapes and angles, calculus lines up with areas of study like physics and algebra fills in the blanks. There’s a lot of memorization involved and repetitive work required.

Statistics covers data analysis and probability. Charts, graphs, averages, medians and baselines all come from an in-depth knowledge of statistics.

Students that wish to secure a graduate degree in math or statistics often go on to become economic advisors, professors, scientists and engineers. It’s also a great route to take should a student desire to work in the data science field at companies like Microsoft, Amazon and Google.
