Social Sciences
From sociology to geography, social science majors comprise a variety of fields dealing with human behavior. Based in the humanities, social science majors can take several career paths: historians, geographers, psychologists, counselors, urban planners and more.
The highest paying degrees in social science include: masters in economics, masters in political science, finance, international relations and behavioral analysis.
Majoring in social science, the student should have a desire to work with others, to improve difficult situations and to solve problems. The ability to think on the fly and resolve issues is a strong quality in a social science major. In addition, a major in the social sciences can help align ideals for a sprint into politics and civil service. Typical salaries in the social sciences range from lower-level counseling positions in the low $30K range to well into six-figures for politicians and campaign managers.
