City food trucks are often seen at festivals and parks. However, they’re making appearances at United States college campuses too—and students love the menu options they provide. These mobile dining experiences have set off a movement of their own. So much so, there’s even a National Food Truck Day. According to Roaming Hunger, June 25, 2021, is the next foodie holiday. As if students need a celebratory day to eat, this special day was created to support the more than 18,000 food trucks across America and Canada.
The mobile world of food has even crept into the homes of viewers via competition shows like Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race. Currently in its fourteenth season, and hosted by Tyler Florence, viewers get to see entrepreneur chefs challenge similar food truck chefs with special tasks and food assignments.
Serving popular food from BBQ and grilled cheese to ice cream and crepes, students enjoy the menu options they have when visiting food trucks. The flexibility of food trucks also provides vendors the ability to specialize in the menu item and cuisines they do best. Trivago Magazine adds, “The fact that these trucks can provide quality food at much lower prices makes them more appealing to budget-conscious consumers.”
Most college students are on a tight budget, so the possibility of trying new and unique foods that won’t break the weekly college-student budget makes food-truck dining a great option for students. Food truck companies are showcasing their unique fusion food via social media platforms like Instagram. Truck chefs are also hosting daily specials or menu changes via Facebook or Twitter too. For the foodie students, this is a fun way to give your taste buds some culture.
With the help of Mobile Cuisine, we’ve gathered the top-five, best college food trucks in the nation (fingers crossed that your college made the list):
