McDonald’s is teaming up with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to help students pay for college.
McDonald’s doesn’t just feed billions around the world; the company also gives back to communities. One of the ways they do this is with scholarships for students. In addition to McDonald’s HACER Scholarship and Archways to Opportunity, McDonald’s also distributes the Black and Gold Scholarship. This scholarship is open to students who attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Apply for the McDonald’s Black and Gold Scholarship

Deadline: 4/25/25 Available To: College Students Award Amount: Up to $15,000
The McDonald’s Black and Positively Golden Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students attending TMCF – member HBCUs and Predominately Black Institutions. You must have a minimum 2.7 GPA and demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award. To apply, applicants must:
• Upload a professional image in your school logo and/or school colors. • Answer the following video question (2 mins max): What unique perspective, passion, or curiosity drives your academic interests? How do you envision it shaping your future as a scholar and leader in your field? • After submission of the video, the student will be asked if they are currently, or have ever been a McDonald’s team member. This data will be recorded for potential team member scholarship.

Who Qualifies for the McDonald’s Black and Gold Scholarship

To be eligible for the Black and Gold Scholarship, you must:
• Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior attending an HBCU during the 2025-2026 academic school year. • Have a current cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher. • Be able to demonstrate leadership abilities. • Be able to demonstrate a financial need. • Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident.

About the McDonald’s Black and Gold Scholarship

McDonald’s teamed up with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to offer financial assistance to students enrolled at HBCUs. From the applicant pool, 63 scholars will be selected to receive a scholarship of up to $15,000. These funds can be used for tuition and fees only.
