What Should You Know About Being a Biology major

Biology students have a lot to look forward to. No matter the area of Biology you choose to study, you have a rewarding career to look forward to. But before your career begins, count on spending time studying and conducting research! Many college biology students choose a minor to go along with their major. This specialization can help you gain even more expertise and increase your career prospects within a company or field you are passionate about. For instance, a marine biology student may want to minor in government and policy. According to Top Universities, graduating with these credentials could lead you to create new environmental legislation. These two types of degrees will give you an advantage. Many colleges and universities have biology research opportunities outside of the classroom. Don’t plan on spending all your research time within the walls of your classroom laboratory. Field research could include studying mercury levels of alligator populations, like Laura Kojima: Fearless Latina Herpetologist, Alligator Scientist does. Or by watching birds to understand better their migratory patterns like wildlife conservationist Corina Newsome. As a STEM student, you need to focus on science courses and learn how to apply your knowledge to the latest technology and engineering disciplines. You will have the chance to take newly discovered information and use your findings to help solve real-world problems.
