The Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI) is based in Bainbridge Island, Washington and Seattle, Washington. It was the first business school to offer an MBA in Sustainable Business. BGI offers an MBA in Sustainable Business, an MBA in Sustainable Systems and several Certificates in Sustainable Business and related industry concentrations. BGI's unique and pioneering curriculum infuses social and environmental responsibility into all of its courses, including MBA core competencies. BGI's mission is to prepare students from diverse backgrounds to build enterprises that are financially successful, socially responsible and environmentally sustainable.

They mean this mission in the broader sense – not only preparing its own students, but also helping other business schools integrate sustainability into the heart of their programs. Founded in 2002 by Gifford Pinchot III, Libba Pinchot, Sherman Severin and Jill Bamburg, the school has grown in enrollment and impact over the years. In 2009, BGI was awarded the grant of accreditation from the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). It is also accredited by the State of Washington's Higher Education Coordinating Board. In 2012, BGI graduated its 500th alum.
