Biomedical Sciences

Biomedical science focuses on systems in the body and their associations with disease. This includes pharmacological elements, pathology and biology. Classes such as physiology, cell biology, organic chemistry and advanced mathematics are often required coursework.

Students who major in biomedical science typically go on to become lab scientists, biodata scientists, doctors, professors, and researchers. Biomedical science also plays a role in physical therapy, pharmacy, certain types of law and even veterinary medicine. It’s quite common for students to advance on to additional education, either via grad school or medical school.

This is a challenging major but also one of the most fulfilling for students looking to build a career in medicine. The industry is fast-growing and crucial for further research and development of disease states.
