Health Services/Allied Health/Health Sciences
A degree in health services opens the door to a variety of opportunities in the healthcare industry. It combines health with applied sciences, which means you’ll most likely be completing a series of math courses. Students choose a specialty, such as emergency services, hospital management or counseling.
It is possible to earn a degree in health services at just about every educational level. There are 2-year counseling programs, 4-year traditional degrees in healthcare management and PhD programs for those interested in careers like hospital administration.
In addition to math courses, other required courses will include subjects in the humanities and social behavior, such as psychology. Other courses can include: economics, accounting, sociology, health policy and management. Minoring in this field is also common, when paired with majors in the life sciences.
From the financial side of managing a hospital network to drug and alcohol counseling, health science majors have quite a few options for careers in many different fields within the healthcare industry.
