Visual and Performing Arts
Visual arts covers everything from painting and photography to figure-drawing, modeling, sculpture and even anime. Emphasis is also placed on art history and theory.
There are dozens of careers a visual arts major can enter into. Here are just a few of the professions:
- Cartoonist
- Museum Director
- Courtroom Sketch Artist
- Cinematographer
- Curator
- Acting
- Photographer
- Painter
- Fashion Designer
- Gallery Director
- Set Designer
- Special Effects Consultant
- Furniture Designer
- Art Gallery Owner
- Sculpter
To excel in any of these careers, students will need to minor in specialties or take additional classes in those specificities. Sometimes a graduate degree is also required. For most of these career choices, excessive math and science courses are not a typical requirement. This degree is very hands-on and project-based.
