Description

The Children’s Animal Center Internship is available to junior and senior-level undergraduate students and recent graduates of studies in wildlife management, conservation biology, or a related scientific discipline. You must possess excellent communication skills, be able to lift 50 pounds, be willing to work in an outdoor environment, and hold a valid driver's license to be considered for this internship. Preference will be given to applicants with previous animal care and public education experience. As an intern, you will perform daily care and maintenance of animals at the CAC, assist with diet preparation for animals, and assist with the construction and presentation of enrichment/ training programs including food, sensory, physical, occupational/ social, and browse categories. You will also observe animals, keep records, help with cleaning, and assist with developing and providing educational programs to guests via exhibit talks, biofact tables. and live animal presentations. On-site housing and a monthly stipend is available to interns. This internship is located in Glen Rose, TX, and is offered during the spring, summer, and fall semesters.
