NIWC Marine Mammal Program Veterinary Medical Externship

Description

The NIWC Marine Mammal Program Veterinary Medical Externship is available to students currently enrolled in their fourth or final year at at an accredited veterinary college. To be considered for this externship, you must be a U.S. citizen and submit a CV, three letters of reference, and proof of US citizenship. The MMP maintains and cares for a large population of dolphins and sea lions in an open-ocean environment in San Diego Bay. As an extern, you will have the opportunity to observe and participate in all clinical activities, under the direction of the veterinary staff. This may include: scheduled clinical procedures, veterinary medical technologies support, rounds, sample processing, data entry, research, training, and unscheduled (urgent) procedures. This four - six-week externship is offered in San Diego, CA.
