Thomas Wolfe Scholarship

The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship is available to entering freshmen with an active interest in writing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. To qualify, you must submit a writing sample which may include: up to 50 pages in prose, 40 pages in poetry, or 60 pages in play writing in English (for submitting multiple genres, 25 pages min/ 60 maximum). Also, you must submit a 500 word personal essay entitled "Why I Write" and three letters of recommendation. Additionally, all applicants must be U.S. citizens, not exceed 22 years of age and not be transfer students. This award provides a full scholarship to one incoming student each year for four years including summer research stipends.
