Everyone’s favorite scholarship contest is back:
Stuck at Prom! While it never actually went anywhere, in-person high school proms have been on hiatus for the past two years thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the most part, proms are returning to normal this year, so you’ll be able to show off your Duck Tape prom dress or tuxedo in person. However, like most things, the pandemic has changed the logistics of this particular contest, but we think it’s for the better.
Read on to see how you can enter the Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest in 2022.
How to Enter the Stuck at Prom Contest
To enter the Stuck at Prom contest, students must create their prom attire out of Duck Tape and then submit a photo of their final product. In the past, students had to wear their Duck tap dresses and tuxes to prom; however, the
pandemic has led to changes in what students must do in order to qualify.
Students no longer have to attend a prom event to qualify for the Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest. The requirement now is that you simply submit a photo, whether at an event or at home.
In addition to submitting a photo, each student must also send in an essay or video that details their creative process. Videos should only be between 3 – 5 minutes in length.
Entries will be accepted until June 8, 2022. Anyone ages 14 and up is permitted to apply, and that includes students who are homeschooled. Those who are 18 and under must also have parental or guardian permission to apply.
Voting and Winning the Stuck at Prom Scholarship
Contest
Once the submission period ends, a panel of judges will choose finalists from both of the
Duck Tape prom dress and tuxedo categories. Finalists will be evaluated on workmanship, originality, use of colors, accessories, and use of Duck Tape.
Once finalists are selected and notified, online voting for Best Duck Tape Prom Dress and Best Duck Tape Tuxedo will commence. To have the best chance of winning the Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest, finalists are encouraged to share their photos on social media, by word of mouth, and with local news outlets.
The finalists in each category with the most votes by July 13, 2022, will
win $10,000. All other finalists will receive a $500 scholarship.
