Do you have a strong desire to make a positive impact? Maybe you have a groundbreaking idea that could change the world. If so, DoSomething’s latest opportunity, the Generation Future Grant, serves as a platform for you to share your vision and will help one winning changemaker fund their cause.

How to Enter the $5,000 Generation Future Grant

Share your vision for the future with DoSomething.org by answering the below questions:
What do you want to see in the future? How you are, or how will you make your vision a reality? The grant winner will receive a $5,000 grant (not to be used for school or tuition) to fuel their dreams. The winner will also be recognized this fall at DoSomething’s 30th Anniversary celebration in New York City.

While the DoSomething Grant is focused on turning a vision into a reality, the scholarships below will help you pay for your education:

Spirit of Giving Scholarship

The Spirit of Giving Scholarship is available to high school seniors and current college students. You must submit an essay of between 500 and 750 words on one of the following three topics to be considered for this award: How have you advanced the spirit of giving in your community or abroad either through service or in giving? How has the spirit of giving affected you personally? How will your college or post-secondary education allow you to be of service to others or give to others? Deadline: 7/31/23
Award Amount: $1,000

Race to Inspire Essay Contest

The Race to Inspire Essay Contest is open to students who have run a 5k, 10k, half marathon, or marathon. To be considered, you must submit a 1000 - 2000-word essay detailing what inspired you to run, what challenges you faced, and what you learned through the experience. Deadline: 8/15/23
Award Amount: $500

Bonner Scholars Program

The Bonner Scholars Program is open to entering freshmen at participating colleges. You must demonstrate high financial need and have an interest in community service and social justice issues to be eligible for this award. Deadline: Varies
Award Amount: $2,500

Segal AmeriCorps Education Award

The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is available to students who successfully complete their AmeriCorps term of service and enroll in the National Service Trust. This award can be used to repay qualified student loans and to pay current educational expenses at eligible institutions of higher education and training programs. Deadline: Rolling
Award Amount: up to $6,495

Love Your Career Scholarship

The Love Your Career Scholarship is available to students attending an accredited college or university. You must submit an essay of between 1,000 and 3,000 words describing at least three steps that you plan to take in the next year to start a path toward having a career that you love in order to qualify for this award. Topics may include: What are your passions that could be turned into a career? What are some ideas you have for a business based on things that you love and are skilled at? You must also interview a professional in your chosen field that has at least three years of experience. Deadline: 9/10/23
Award Amount: $1,000

Carson Scholars Program

The Carson Scholars Program is open to students in grades four through eleven. You must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service to be eligible for this award. Interested students MUST be nominated by an educator at their school. Only one student from each school is able to apply. Deadline: Rolling
Award Amount: $1,000
