Here at Fastweb we always enjoy hearing from scholarship winners—especially when they share the news that they found their scholarship opportunity via Fastweb. So, when Texas resident, Tyler Clayton, reached out to share his scholarship win, the Fastweb Team was delighted to share his exciting news.
Clayton is a rising high school senior at Dulles High school, planning to major in Civil Engineering as a college student. He’s a high school student that turned his struggles into a positive experience, not only for himself but for the greater good.
His work and perseverance later translated into a $10,000 Taco Bell’s Live Más Scholarship win. Clayton’s positive spirit is proof that hard work and determination can pay off.
Explain your life’s passion and Taco Bell scholarship submission details.
Growing up in a single-parent home with my mother, I had to take on vital responsibilities in the house. I had to fix things around the house which led me to want to be an engineer. By witnessing my mother's endurance and strength, it allowed me to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually.
I am a varsity football player. Last year during the football season, I was injured. I struggled with the fact that I couldn't play for half the season.
These experiences and challenges led me to a passion for service to children. With that said, I am the Founder and President of Club Pass and Play at my high school.
We donate sports equipment to nonprofit organizations that support children [in places] like women’s shelters and youth shelters in our county. We have donated over 500 balls and sports equipment to various facilities.
I value education and understand that in order for me to pursue the career goal of engineering, going to college is imperative. Receiving the Taco Bell Live Más Scholarship will help me reach my career aspiration with less of a concern on how I will manage to finance my higher education.
Why did you apply for the Taco Bell scholarship?
I applied for this scholarship because I am a leader on my campus in community service and the Taco Bell Live Más Scholarship awards students who implement social change in their communities.
The Taco Bell scholarship application submission was in a non-traditional video format. What are your scholarship-winning tips for students submitting this type of award?
When creating your video focus on the content, not the video graphics. Speak with personality and passion for your vision. Talk about how you lead a community service program.
Why should students use Fastweb?
Students should use Fastweb because there are real, valuable scholarships on the website that are attainable. Apply for as many scholarships as you can!
